Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of NIPPOCHAT, including the mobile app and the website at nippochat.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. The operator
The Service is operated by Mike Henri, an individual based in Nagoya, Japan ("we", "us"). Contact: privacy@nippochat.com. If the Service is transferred to a company, that company will become the operator under these Terms and we will notify you.
2. What NIPPOCHAT is
NIPPOCHAT is a social platform for conversation and community: a place to talk, share and meet people. It includes a feed of photos and videos, chat rooms, profiles, and a feature for getting to know other people. The purpose of getting to know people on NIPPOCHAT is genuine connection and conversation. NIPPOCHAT is not an adult service, and sexual content of any kind is not allowed.
3. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
- You must provide accurate information, including your date of birth, and keep it up to date.
- You may not use the Service if your account was previously removed for violating these Terms.
4. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity on your account. Tell us immediately at privacy@nippochat.com if you believe your account has been compromised. One person may not create multiple accounts to evade restrictions.
5. Community rules
These rules apply everywhere on NIPPOCHAT: profiles, posts, comments, chat rooms and messages. You must not post, send or promote:
- Nudity, sexual content, pornography, or sexual solicitation, including offers or requests of sexual services.
- Any content that sexualises, exploits or endangers minors. See our Child Safety Standards.
- Harassment, threats, bullying, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics.
- Violence, self-harm promotion, or content that glorifies terrorism or extremist groups.
- Scams, fraud, requests for money, phishing, spam, or misleading promotions.
- Impersonation of another person, fake profiles, or photos of other people presented as yourself.
- Personal information of others without their consent.
- Content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights.
- Illegal goods or services, or content that breaks the laws of Japan or your country.
You also must not interfere with the Service: no scraping, automated accounts, reverse engineering, attempts to access other accounts, or attacks on our systems.
6. Meeting people safely
We do not run background checks on users. Be careful when sharing personal information and when meeting anyone in person: meet in public places and tell someone you trust. You are responsible for your own interactions with other users.
7. Reporting and blocking
You can block users and report content or users that break these rules. We review reports and may act without notice. Reports involving the safety of minors are prioritised and may be referred to the authorities.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post. By posting it, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, translate and adapt it as needed to operate, improve and promote the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared with others (for example, messages in a conversation) and backups that are deleted within the periods described in the Privacy Policy.
You confirm that you have the rights to the content you post and that it follows these Terms.
9. Translation
Some messages and comments can be translated automatically. Automatic translations may be inaccurate; do not rely on them for important decisions.
10. Enforcement
If you break these Terms, we may remove content, limit features, suspend or permanently remove your account. For serious violations, especially anything involving minors, sexual exploitation, threats or fraud, we may act immediately and cooperate with law enforcement.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time. See nippochat.com/delete-account.
12. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may change, add or remove features. We may update these Terms; for significant changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Disclaimers and liability
We work to keep the Service available and safe, but it is provided "as is" and may contain errors or interruptions. We are not responsible for content posted by users or for their conduct, on or off the Service.
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any damage arising from the Service is limited to direct and ordinary damages. This limitation does not apply to damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or where the law, including Japan's Consumer Contract Act, does not allow it.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Nagoya District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance, unless mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise.
